In the beginning of this year we started looking for voices in the local area and over the internet. I have to say, we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by lots of talented people, and we found our voice actors for the demo! In this post I am going to tell you about the details of all that.

The audition was held in a recording studio. I created a magic button in Unity that extracts all conversations from our scripts and outputs them in a txt file. We picked a few relevant pieces of that to use in the auditions.

As we arrived home after the auditions we jumped right into processing what we have recorded. Yes, it means staying up till ridiculous-o-clock, but it is worth it. And it was so exciting! We just couldn't go to sleep.

After a few days of listening to the recording over and over and again (and putting them into the game and then listening to them again) we came up with a cast list for the demo.

Last Sunday we went back to the same studio with 20+ printed pages of voice over scripts!
Luckily, we were able to sort out the slight technical difficulty we had due to a misplaced cable, and managed to record (almost) everything.

Note to self: triple-check that you have every gizmo, cable and other equipment the day before you go to the studio.
